Financial aid is available to students enrolled in Batten University Online programs. Federal grants, loans, state aid, and military benefits can all help reduce what you pay out of pocket — and our financial aid team is here to help you understand every option before you commit to anything.
Step 1: Complete Your FAFSA
The Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) is the starting point for all federal financial aid — grants, loans, and work-study programs. You'll need your FSA ID and Batten University's school code to complete the form.
Step 2: Apply for Grants
Batten University participates in the following federal and state grant programs:
- Federal Pell Grant — Need-based federal grant available to eligible undergraduate students.
- Virginia Tuition Assistance Grant (VTAG) — Available to Virginia residents attending eligible private institutions.
- Virginia Community College Transfer Grant — For eligible students transferring from a Virginia community college.
Step 3: Explore Loan Options
Federal loans can help cover any gap between your grant aid and your total tuition. Federal loans typically offer lower interest rates and more flexible repayment options than private alternatives.
- Federal Direct Subsidized and Unsubsidized Loans — Available to eligible undergraduate and graduate students. Subsidized loans don't accrue interest while you're enrolled at least half-time.
- Direct Parent PLUS Loan — Available to parents of dependent undergraduate students to help cover remaining costs.
Batten University encourages students to exhaust all federal aid options before considering private or alternative loans. Contact the Financial Aid Office for guidance.
